Beyond (poem)

Poetry

Existential dread
Tighten and paralyze
Compulsive soothing
Fear of unknown

Embrace darkness
Lean into terror
Mere mosquito bites
Perspective rendering

Many realities
One death
Ego dissolution
Loss and gain

Flow forward
Pack up this life
Leave the extra
Drop the pain

Choose wisely
Only love
Can be carried off
Into the afterlife

Window (poem)

Poetry

Rapt with attention,
Slight movements draw the eye.
Activities endless,
Passing moments astound.

Vicarious delight,
Perched at the sill.
Curious kitty,
Tail twitches with anticipation.

Big wide eyes,
Narrow pupils a sliver.
Desire tauntingly close,
Glass cleaves separate worlds.

Television for kitties,
The world is a show.
Dimensions unknown,
Peep through a window.

Banal (poem)

Poetry

These outbursts bore me.
Typical patterns emerge.
Jigsaw puzzles of pathology.
Frankenstein’s disgrace.

Crudely constructed imitations.
Burning effigies grotesque.
A mob formed against me.
Torches threaten and excite.

Imagined intimidation.
False threat clear as day.
Martyr her corpse.
Paint over her features.

Feed me your hatred.
Transmute in my belly.
Spit fire to spite them.
These dull human creatures.

Machine (poem)

Poetry

Constantly glitching,
Troubleshoot parameters.
Internal functions not fixing,
Crack open the case.

Hardware looks fine,
Slightly dusty in parts.
Thorough cleaning in order,
Busy satisfaction.

Error messages abundant,
Programming is off.
Who built this device?
Rewire the mind.

Well-oiled machine,
Slip ups nonexistent.
Coded by gods,
Reformed by technicians.
