Treadmill (poem)

Poetry

Aspirin bottle,
Prophetic appearance.
Fifty or sixty,
Last sleep.

Best efforts given,
Futility proven.
Future a void,
Stretching suffering.

Promises of better,
Echo stifled by lies.
Hopes ringing falsely,
Imprisoned in perpetual misery.

Walking corpses,
Envy the resting.
Trudge on a treadmill,
Pulling the plug.
